to rubber mount the engine to get rid of roughness at high speeds. The 45° helps them as regards getting room under the bonnet. It will be seen that the gear ratios are very low with the small wheels they are practically geared to 20 M.P.H. for 1000 engine revs. The engines on the bed are tested up to 4000 R.P.M. The weight of the car is heavy. There was an effort being made to reduce the weight. The machine work is very good, as an example, on the connecting rods they drill .125 hole up the whole length in order to get oil to the little end.

They seem to be very fond of the bi-metal thermostats, they have two on each carburetter to richen it up when cold and one on the dynamo. They use roller bearings on a number of the bearings on the brake gear.
