c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY12/G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 21.3.30. 40/50 HP. CHASSIS - REAR ROAD SPRINGS. ---------------------------------------- With reference to rear road springs F.81737 with rolled eyes at the rear which Messrs. Firths have produced for us to test out experimentally, the Experimental Department report that at the solid eye end of the spring the clip is nearer to the end of the leaf than at the rolled eye end, also the stiffening effect of the clips when close to the tips of the leaves make the tips dig in and it is impossible to get a good bedding. It is recommended that the centre line of the clips should not be less than 2.250" from the tips of the leaves. Although we are not yet in a position to standardize these springs owing to the fact that the Experimental Department are experiencing some difficulty in regard to the lubrication scheme at the rolled eye end, we think it advisable to straighten out the clip position as soon as possible, therefore will you please take this matter up with Messrs. Firths requesting them to look into the matter and give us dimensions for the positions of the clips when altered to meet the above requirements. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
