FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M7.12.28. 'SS{S. Smith}' FRONT SHOCK DAMPER. X 7520 X 235 With reference to the fracture on the bumping rig reported in HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/LG51228., we send herewith N. scheme 2775., shewing a strenghened lever. We suggest that as this lever is pure bending, the ideal section is 'I', especially as it permits us to take hold of the boss more strongly. We think there has been an appreciable gain of strength without appreciable addition of weight. It would be of interest to us to know whether the increase in the cost is very great.
