Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of the 20th.inst. Neither of the two types of lining with which you provided us was free from the tendency to squeak. As this was the main feature in which we were interested, we have rejected these two types of lining. We should be interested to know whether further experiments you have made indicate a possibility of obtaining a brake lining which is likely to reduce the possibility of squeaks occurring.
