Leslie} Levallois Sr/VA4/ET.5.5.36 Re: CHASSIS B.85.EJ - ex Paris Trials Car now owned by Mr. Dulles (Total mileage: 16.000 Kms) With reference to our memo Sr/VA2/ET.30.4.36 concerning hydraulic dampers, the above customer complained that there were rattles at the front of his car, and on investigation we discovered that the front dampers were knocking. We have fitted two new dampers which we received from Works specially for this car, the initial load being set by Works at 100 lbs. The original dampers had an initial load of 125/130 lbs. After the new dampers were fitted, the knock disappeared abd the owner now finds the suspension at the front more to his liking. Upon dismantling the original dampers, we found a fair amount of slackness in the bronze bushes, which was undoubtedly the cause of the trouble. We have repaired the original dampers by fitting new bronze bushes and setting the initial load at 100 lbs. We have not, however, had a chance of trying them on a car; when we do we will drop you a line. Sr/VA. | ||
