X.3/29. TEST ON SPARKING OF 6 VOLT 12 CYLINDER REMY COIL AT 5-6 mm. AIR GAPS (WHEN CURRENT REVERSED IN PRIMARY AND HIGH TENSION TERMINALS WERE CONNECTED UP IN DIFFERENT WAYS).

The effectiveness of the sparking in the various cases below was compared by connecting a slide wire rheostat in series with the primary and the "running" current reduced to a point where definite misfiring occurred. Conditions which caused the smallest "running" current consistent with even sparking were considered the best.

- Connections as above -
Contact breaker speed = 500 R.P.M.
Running current = 1.90 amps.
Running current reduced without misfiring to 1.30 amp.
Practically no sparking occurred when running current reduced to .90 amp.
