To BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rn. {Mr Robinson} XG 400 ? 78030 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rnl/LG11.2.27. With reference to BY?/H10.2.27. It is unfortunate that our original specification of 10 lbs. at the end of this lever was not adhered to by WW. when they produced the scheme for the new axle. The need for this load is even greater now than it was previously because of the increased brake rope length. We agree that the stress looks rather alarming, nevertheless, we have done a large mileage with it. We are taking the matter up with DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} when he is up here, and feel certain that the Test Dept. will have great difficulty in getting any cars out until some modification has been made here.
