To BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} -3- Contd. R6/G27.9.19. It is not proposed to adopt the 4/13 box in its entirety but most probably the 3 speed box like the new 20 HP. BACK AXLE. No change. FRONT AXLE. X.3681. To have steering lever altered to other side. STEERING BOX. X.3682. Build for other side of chassis and reverse hand of worm and nut. CONTROLS ON STEERING WHEEL. No change whatever. STEERING COLUMN PEDALS, EXHAUST, CUTOUT & STARTER BUTTON. STARTER BUTTON [Diagram of three pedals labelled: CLUTCH, BRAKE, ACCELERATOR] X.3689. X.3690. X.3691. TO BE DONE AT W.W. Care must be taken that pressure on one shaft does not cause friction on another. Pedals and starter button to be on reverse side of chassis but in their present position relative to each other. Exhaust cutout will probably have to go where convenient. CHANGE SPEED GATE AND SIDE BRAKE. X.3680 Gate and side brake lever to be in centre of chassis. Probably a small gate without side notches, like 49 GB. ELECTRICAL STARTER. X.3683. Motor, gear, and switches to be on other side of chassis. Direction of rotation of motor as at present. DYNAMO DRIVE. X.3684. Dynamo to be changed to other side of chassis, but hand to remain unaltered. SPEEDOMETER DRIVE. X.3685. Change to other side of chassis. INSTRUMENT BOARD. X.3686. Will have instruments arranged in reverse order to present. PETROL TANK. X.3687. Altered to suit reversed position of silencer This is to be fitted with separate partition to give warning when commencing last two gallons Petrol indicator lever had better be of the magnetic type.
