MINUTES OF CONFERENCE
HELD AT MESSRS. PARK
WARD & CO. LTD. ON
DEC: 19TH.1939.

Present Mr. Ward, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, Mr. Green, Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}, & Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} (after lunch

(1) Bodies for uantity Production - Senior range.

A detailed investigation was made into possible,
tool, material and labour costs, to discover whether
a cost of £135 per body was possible with an out-put
of 5,000 bodies in two years of a design like 12.B.V.
Of these 5,000 would have Bentley scuttles and 1,000
the R.R. scuttle. For the purpose of the discussion
the R.R. bodies were not included.

(a) Place of Manufacture.

Mr. Ward said that the maximum output of these
bodies with P.W. construction would be 45 per
week i.e. approx. 2,250 per annum.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} said that some other factory would very
probably be available for both chassis and body
construction when the time arrived, therefore
limitation should not be imposed upon the layout
for manufacture.

(b) Mr. Ward said that :-

Costs - shell.

1. The material cost of the present B.V. body in
batches of 250 was £131 and finally £126.

2. Labour was £75. and finally reduced to £51.

3. The part-off cost of the shell parts is £40.

4. The shell tool cost £5,000.
