April 12th.1926. Ref: EFC2/T. Dear Mr. Fowler Clark, We send you herewith particulars of the latest type of magneto which we have prepared for you, tested on your standard gap with cams of different angles. There is no particular reason for the choice of the three different angles shown, but you will note that they bracket the values which you find from theoretical considerations likely to be the best. So far it would appear that even with the concession of 700 r.p.m. instead of 500 r.p.m. we are not able to obtain the utility you require at slow speed without employing a 12 instead of a 10 m/m thickness magnet. We are sending to you now one machine fitted with a 12 m/m magnet and the 110º make cam. Perhaps you will be so good as to let us have your comments on the performance of this machine. We can reduce the angle of make slightly in future machines if desirable without affecting either performance or interchangeability. We are at present just completing a modified distributor in which the segments will be keyed into position in the | ||
