Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

With reference to your letter of the 10th inst. addressed for the attention of Mr. Eckford this has been passed to the writer for attention, and we have noted your remarks in regard to the Thermostats which we supply for the Bentley Car.

Frankly, we are astounded to hear that these Thermostats do not go sufficiently open when punctured as this was one of the main points which we took care of before putting the job in production. The bellows on the Thermostat is longer than our standard in order to allow for this extra valve movement.

We have taken a Thermostat from stock at random and punctured it - this we found goes almost to the full open position as we expected it to. We are sending you this Thermostat under separate cover and perhaps you will be kind enough to let us have the Thermostat which you are referring to so that we can examine same.

Regarding the Thermostat referred to in the last paragraph of your letter - your order No.467 dated the 11th July calling for one Thermostat to be set at 110°C. - this is being made up in our Experimental Department and we hope to let you have same at an early date.

Yours faithfully,
For S. SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LIMITED.

To avoid delay all envelopes should be addressed to the firm.
