X5770 RE: SPORTS CARS. PHANTOM II & 20. X5770. Referring to R3/M24. 9. 29 I confirm conversation of today, namely that for various reasons I am anxious that we should not go ahead with work in connection with 20 HP. for sports car at the present time. I think there will be plenty for everybody to do if we deal with the Phantom II. I should be pleased to see DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} any time by appointment in regard to the question of bodies, and I favour the type with the spare wheel not enclosed. I am very anxious that any sports bodies designed for this chassis should not have the type of back which was adopted for the former sports Phantom. When I am in Derby next week I will go into the question of the present position of experimental work in connection with the type known as Japan and which I appreciate you are anxious to introduce as soon as possible.
