SPONTAN Spontan braking system as during periods of powerful brake application a considerable part of the car weight is carried over from the rear to the front axle, the Spontan system thus ensuring a division of the braking power in relation to the actual axle loads. Fig. 20. Due to special steps having been taken in the design, the application of the front wheel brakes is not sudden but distinguished by the same smoothness and regulating possibilities which are so conspicuous for the working of the propeller shaft brake. To conform with the requirements of the law an independent hand brake is fitted acting on the rear wheels only. The fact that this brake is not ordinarily exposed to wear ensures it being in a good condition when wanted for 27 | ||
