Coil performance with details on current, inductance, and ballast design.

The performance of the coil is shown in the attached design sheet No. , performance sheet and curve LD.260. It will be seen that the current to give 10 KV with a .12 mfd condenser is 1.48 amps, which is quite a good figure for a coil of 9.2 MH {M. Huckerby} inductance, but this is increased to 2.05 amps with the large condenser used. A separate ballast consisting of a coil of nickel wire clamped between two porcelains is used, and, since some of the wire is exposed to air, it would appear that contact trouble might be experienced if the ballast were mounted in a draught.
