To All Testers from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}

On two occasions the Derby Police have found it necessary to come to the Works to enquire for information about our Experimental testers driving Works cars in an illegal manner.

It is appreciated that in order to carry out experimental work it is sometimes necessary to use cars abnormally. There is, however, no excuse for driving to the danger of the public, or, in such a manner as to alarm other road users, nor is there any excuse whatever for speeding in the 30 mile limit. Brooklands is available for high speed work, Donington for freak testing.

The car work in the Experimental Dept. cannot function unless it retains the good will of the Police.

In future, we propose to take a most serious view of any Police complaints with regard to the driving of experimental cars, and unless a satis-factory explanation can be produced, the individual in question is liable to be removed from the Driving List.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}
