To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Whym. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 523 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Whym.11/AP.11.1.37. 25/30 HP. EXHAUST FITTINGS. With reference to the proposed standardisation of aluminized mild steel downtake pipes, front expansion boxes and intermediate pipes for the 25/30 HP. car, we are afraid we have not obtained the practical experience we hoped for on the 10,000 miles car 22.G.V., due to an unfortunate break of the welded joint where the downtake pipe enters the expansion box. This is exactly the same trouble that we experienced on the Bentley and for which a modification to By/CS.4/EH.9.11.36. has been issued but unfortunately it was not ready in time to catch 22.G.V. in France. We are running "Aluminized" Mild Steel parts on 6.B.1V. and 35-EX. on 10,000 miles tests in France, and most of our experimental cars in Derby are running on the same material. We therefore suggest that the standardisation sheet for the 20/25.HP. should be held up pending the completion of these 10,000 miles tests. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Whym. | ||
