In view of the disaster with Lappin's car, it has been agreed that we must fit the known modifications to this car to reduce the tendency to brake jaggers. These are - (1) Servo with Hartford on the swinging arm. These parts were fitted to Lappin's car and are at present on 1-B-IV. Will you please change them over - it is only the swinging arm parts which are affected, the servo on the car remains as at present. (2) Fit the brake shoes asked for in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}17/KW.4.3.36, lined with S.5805 material. The following modifications have also been agreed to :- (1) An exhaust system which saves £2. 10. 0d. in cost and 10 lbs. in weight to be fitted to the car. This is complete and in the Stores. (2) Aerolite pistons in place of the split skirt R.R. as at present fitted. This completes the car for 15,000 miles test. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
