DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}) To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} } FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} EFC. } Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. c.c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Mr. North. X7791 RL/M15.4.27. REC'D DURING EASTER. AND DESPATCHED 20.4.27. MAGNETOS- 40/50 & 20 HP. X.5790. X.7791. I believe I have written about the above, and I understand we are waiting for Watfords for - (1) A magneto for Phantom, sleeveless, as the small one I have seen - i.e. laminated poles giving satisfactory spark when retarded at slow speed, so that the battery failing the engine can be started by hand. (This happened at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence owing to broken step-iron, which has now been altered I understand). (2) A magneto for Phantom, preferably sleeveless, because it is not worth the complication and expense. It must spark at slow speed for easy hand starting as (1), and also should perhaps be of the inductor type, so as not to destroy our jump spark distributor. If we cannot get a move out of Messrs. North & Co. we must go elsewhere - i.e. B.T.H., Lucas. Please send Mr. North a copy of my memo. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
