FAILURE - WRAITH SPRING POT BRACKET.

Herewith a section cut from the above piece which failed on the Bump Rig. This piece is made of a high carbon cast steel and has been welded. Can you say, from an examination of the specimen at the points A, B, and C, whether the welding has weakened the metal, or not. The point A, is close to the weld and it is here failure apparently started; and at C, the metal did not fail. There was no welding close to B.
