Mr Barrington.

Packard Clutch.

You will remember that Mr Johnson asked Mr Northey to obtain a plate clutch for the Packard car which we have at the Works; and later Mr Johnson said that if Mr Wormald required this clutch badly, I had better ask Mr James Royce to get one for us on the quiet.

I saw Mr Wormald and several others at the time and it was decided that we might wait until we heard the result of Mr Northey's efforts before writing to Mr James Royce as it was quite unnecessary to have two clutches.

On the 20th/Dec. Mr Northey wrote that he was in touch with the matter and would let us know later.

We have not heard anything since, and I have now asked Mr Wormald whether I had not better ask James Royce to get us a clutch independently of what Mr Northey is doing; as, of course, even if we write out immediately it will be three weeks before we can have the clutch.

Mr Wormald thinks this matter should be brought before the Committee to-night so that it may be discussed and so that I may catch the American mail to-morrow, if necessary.
