Dear Lord Herbert,

I have just returned from a trip to and three weeks in the Riviera.

While down there I had a run in one the Cottin-Desgouttes cars. I expect your people know all about it but the springing was really wonderful, instead of the ordinary parallel cantilever, the back wheels were sprung individually by each one having four separate transverse springs from the differential, two being below the axle and two above, meeting the inside of the wheel at positions which formed a square of perhaps 9" to 1' 0" apart. The result was that practically all road shock was eliminated and even a very bad level crossing only caused a wave in the car.
As I have said, I have no doubt your people know all about this, but in case not I mention it.

Kind regards,

Yours v.{VIENNA} sincerely,
G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Monro.
