For the Attention of Mr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} West, Experimental Dept. Dear Sirs, We were interested to receive your letter of the 27th ultimo concerning rev. counters and speedometer for your Bentley chassis. With regard to the rev. counter, we presume you would require the glass on the front of this instrument not as per sample S17260, but fitted with the 5/16 in. thick bevelled glass similar to the sample rev. counter which you sent us some time ago. We find that this heavy bevelled glass is rather an expensive item, and so far we have not been able to secure any satisfactory quotations for same from the glass manufacturers. However, on the assumption that we can locate a satisfactory supply source for this glass, we should be able to supply you with this rev. counter on a total order for 500 at a price of 14/6d. If you did not wish to have this instrument fitted with the heavy bevelled glass and were prepared to take it with our standard glass with windows around the case edge exactly as per sample S17260, the price would be reduced to 14/- each. With regard to the speedometer, again fitted with heavy bevelled glass front and provided with mileage and quick reset odometers, our price for the instrument on an order for 500 would be 17/6d. each. Here again a reduction of 6d. could be allowed if you could take our standard glass front. With regard to the flexible cable and casing, our price for this unit as per sample S17268 on an order for 500 would be 4/- each. With regard to the sample speedometer unit for the Bentley chassis, we take it that the bottom end of the cable/casing unit should be identical with the bottom end of the cable/casing unit which we have already supplied to you for the rev. counter; we shall be glad if you will confirm this.
