| 261 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/ST.{Capt. P. R. Strong} 20th February, 1941. C.L. BREEDEN, Esq., Messrs. Wilmot-Breeden Ltd., Eastern Works - Camden Street, BIRMINGHAM. Dear Breeden, I am sending you the petrol ration book for your old car, as I understand that you need it to obtain one for the Bentley V.{VIENNA} I cannot obtain one for my brother in law until I have the Registration Book. We have found a cracked front cross member on B-214-GA, which is rather curious. A number of the central lubrication pipes were broken and, in consequence, instead of the springs, shackles, etc.. being lubricated when the Bijur pump was operated, the oil was pouring on the ground. The parts in question were therefore rusted up and will have to be replaced. Your chauffeur should look out for this, because these small pipes inevitably do get broken by flying stones etc.., and one breakage will nullify the whole lubrication system which must operate under pressure to reach the more remote parts of the chassis. We have got the little model car finished and can show it you next time you come over. I hope to get the drawings of the steering gear and grill in the course of the next few posts. Yours sincerely, | ||
