From 'C.' to 'F. Dodd' comparing the steering performance of car GAE-19 with car GSF-4.

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}13/KW11.4.35. ----- I note that this car has the cross steering tube poundage as well as the shorter pendulum lever, but that you think the main improvement is obtained from the former. I drove car No.GSF-4 for 20 miles in London, and this steering is not nearly as good as on GAE-19. I mention this because GSF-4 has only just recently returned from Derby where it was sent with a complaint of stiff steering, among other things. It might be interesting to find out what was done to the steering, and whether they reduced the cross steering tube poundage; and if they did it might be an interesting comparison. C. | ||
