We are running on one of our cars some of the straight sided Dunlop tyres. x Dunlops have asked us to run them with 80 lbs. pressure in the back tyres. We find that the riding of the car is very uncomfortable with this pressure and also that the tyres do not last long. We consider that if the tyres are very hard the axle leaves the road more and there is more slip between the tyre and the road. We think this may be worse for the tyre and than when running with a lower pressure in the tyre and risking the flexing of the walls of the cover. We consider that our cars which have light open bodies should be able to run with softer tyres - this would help us because it is mostly on that type of car we have trouble with the axles not holding the road.
