X7772. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Wcr. re RRAI. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}5/E26.2.30. With further reference to my memo. of yesterday regarding tests of Phantom II with sub-frame cut out of action, I think that we ought to try to demonstrate to Oy. (who, I understand, arrives within the next few days) and Srn. that they will be doing the wrong thing in not having the sub-frame. You will remember that some few years ago you demonstrated to the C.S.C. on the same car, on the same day and over the same roads the advantages of the sub-frame on a 20, and I suggest it would be very valuable to conduct a similar demonstration to Oy. and Srn. if, as I assume, we believe that the right thing is for America to have the sub-frame - in other words if the sub-frame is right for England, surely it should be right for America.
