Dear Mr.Robotham,

I have been asked by the governing body of the Weybridge Cottage Hospital to assist with the installation of a petrol driven emergency lighting equipment. Like all hospitals, they are hard up and want to do the job as cheaply as possible.

An engine, fitted with a governor, and giving about 40 h.p. at 1500 r.p.m. is required and it occurred to me that a Silver Ghost engine might be very suitable.

Mr.Ellor very kindly gave me information regarding the power curve of the Silver Ghost engine, from which it seems that it would have plenty in hand. We can buy an engine from the local scrap merchants for a few pounds but if we do so we shall almost certainly have to dismantle it and check up on its internal condition.

It occurred to me that you might possibly have an old vehicle operating in your Works which you are about to scrap and of which the condition of the engine is known. For example, I am told that the tender which was in use at Hucknall until quite recently has just been replaced. Mr.Ellor suggested that I should write to you to ask whether you know of such an engine, or preferably an old chassis of which
