Re Spares for 20HP. Car.

Reference second paragraph of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}7/LG23.11.22.

If before we can organise spares etc. for depots in Great Britain and abroad we are to wait for a modern car which has done a considerable mileage, I cannot foresee the day when we shall get one of these machines.

I am afraid that the present position is such that we shall gain our experience of 20HP. car requirements when they appear at the Works for repairing purposes.

This will be unfortunate both from the customers' and Company's point of view, because we shall have to gain our experience at the expense of one or the other, and there will be delay in the execution of repairs.

My knowledge of the experimental 20HP. cars is very limited, but it seems to me that with the number of machines that have been made there should by now be one available for the education of Depots and Repairing Departments, and for this purpose a really modern car is not necessary.

What we want is to get going with the spares and repairs to the best of our ability, even though there are changes to come later on.

To wait a further two or three weeks is not giving us an opportunity to get going in time to meet the demands which later will be required, at least not on an economical basis. We shall always be able to get spares here, but we should have a programme of our own which will not interfere with output.
