ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. DERBY. Exptl. Dept. TELEGRAMS: "ROYCAR, DERBY" TELEPHONES: DERBY 1300 (8 LINES) IN YOUR REPLY PLEASE QUOTE Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW. 30th January, 1936. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Olley Esq., The Cadillac Motor Car Co., Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. Dear Oy., We believe that the Americans are much better at making cast-iron castings than we are. With a view to ascertaining whether this is so or not, we are very anxious to obtain the average weight of a finished Chevrolet cylinder head, and also a drawing of the specified casting thickness, if this can be obtained. It would also be interesting to know whether they have succeeded in reducing the weight of the head by improved casting technique, or whether in the last few years little or no progress has been made in getting casting weights down. Kind regards to Mrs. Olley, andbest wishes for 1936. Yours sincerely, AW Robotham [Handwritten notes] J.M. Crawford May I have your comments on this Olley Feb 10/36 62 1/2 to 63# | ||
