| H.R. 255a (150 H) (V V.{VIENNA} 681 12-3-14) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 0414. To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Sheet 2. X.879. RL/P 21. 3. 14. X.879 I will therefore wait until we have modified it in the way set forth, that is the high pressure side shall discharge air first and oil last. In other words, we make it into a pump for its own retaining purpose. We are very pleased indeed to see that the new spring brackets F4273 are all right. This ought to put our minds at rest with reference to this part. It is quite evident that the car gets a greater drumming in this case than it would be possible for passengers to bear on the road, and therefore the test, although excellent for finding out the weakest spot is not very much to go by.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} I should be glad if the test can be arranged so that the breakages are less frequent, that is not quite so severe. At the same time as fitting the shock absorber, we might also introduce the lateral flexibility, which would also tend to keep the chassis from being so badly bruised. This would be a better way of tackling the problem rather than making the chassis excessively heavy to stand the bouncing, which no possible passenger could bear. | ||
