----------

Referring to Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}5/M.8.5.25. and Br1/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 7.5.25. attached, the two points raised should, in my opinion, be dealt with by arranging to have a number of "L" Section rings made for the 20 HP. chassis.

A supply of these could be available for our own Repair Dept. and Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} in which case I think the difficult in regard to over-oiling would be practically overcome.

I do not think the question of altering of the maximum pressure of the oil will affect the issue appreciably.

So far as my knowledge of the matter goes, we find that whether the pressure is up or down or whether baffles are fitted or not, some engines will over-oil, but we have found that in every case an "L" shaped scraper ring will improve the position very considerably.

In regard to the second point, namely, stretching of the rear axle spring clips, this is a complaint that we have not heard much about.

We know that the spring clips require attention every now and again, and we draw attention to this in our instructions.

The difficulty is that we cannot increase the size of spring clip, but I have recently increased the Brinell figure.

We have arranged for our stocks to be re-heat-treated, and I suggest that a certain number of spring clips made to the higher Brinell are supplied to Cricklewood, but they should be used only when required; no practice should be made of changing same unless they were a source of complaint.
