2008 Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} c.HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}2/R.10.12.37. BENTLEY III HUBS. )159. We attach to this memo a quotation from Alford's for lesser quantities of hubs, and also a letter saying that the tools are ours for a price of £470. We think that hubs should be ordered in batches of 1000. Past experience shows that even greater numbers have been used without modification. We have told Price of Dunlops about the Alford figure, and he does not think he can approach it, saying they only make 8% profit on our wheel equipment. If we accept Alford's quotation we should like a reservation that at any time we can use their cheaper material and obtain the reduction mentioned in their first letter. We shall experiment with the cheaper material as soon as possible. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
