REPORT ON VISIT TO MESSRS. JOHN MARSTON LTD. -
12.8.37. - Wolverhampton.

The writer visited the above firm on the 12th inst. in connection with the following points :-

(1) Increase of price of Bentley and 25/30 matrices in MK.VI construction using .005 and .003 tinned strip as compared with the prices which we have been paying for our standard matrices.

(2) Failure of Ph.III oil coolers in service.

(3) Quotation for Wraith radiator less shell and shutters.

(4) Acceleration of supply of reconditioned Phantom III matrices for replacement purposes.

(5) Inspection of the sample Bentley radiator made to Messrs. Marstons ideas.

(6) Inspection of two sample car heaters made by Messrs. John Marston Ltd.

(7) Likelihood of Marstons making a hydrogen brazed cooler of the Harrison type.

The following is a summary of the arrangements and decisions arrived at concerning the above points :-

(1) Messrs. Marstons are submitting fresh quotations to us within the next few days for 25/30, Bentley and Wraith radiator matrices in MK.VI .005 and .003 construction. From approximate figures given to the writer, these matrices will cost slight less than our existing matrices would if they were ordered for future cars - owing to the increase in raw material cost however (approx. 3/6 on Bentley and 25/30 and a small increase (approx. 1/-) due to more rigid testing required etc. the prices of the existing Mk V type cores would be higher (by approx. 4/6) if ordered now or in future than the prices paid for the last orders. Messrs. Marstons state that the charge for extra testing and inspection (approx. 1/-) is purely a nominal one and that they are prepared to bear the rest of the extra expense in their own interests.
