-3- Steering. Bad. I do not believe it is due to the geometry of the steering - there is too much horse power in the kicks for that - it appears to be wheels actually deflected sideways when attacking a bump. I recommend we get out a scheme to try plain bearings in steering column. We can do with more friction anyhow. Ignition. Apart from coil, had one stop due to terminal nut on ballast dropping off - these should have spring washers (not R-R type) The contact wear pad, wore badly (see report) Plugs. K.L.G. plugs were very good. I have taken them apart they appear excellent. Starter Motor. No trouble whatever. Generator. " " ". Starter Switch. " " ". Angle of pedal should be altered so that thick mat can be used. Distribution Board. } Wiring and Cut-out } No trouble whatever. switches. } Tappets. Not adjusted since left Paris - still quiet. Water circulation. One or two leaks have started from screw heads - these had been re moved to fix controls - no other trouble. Vacuum tank. No trouble whatever. I should say the car was in perfect condition after 1000 miles on French roads except for bad rattles caused by side play in front shackles and shock absorber connections.
