Before we do so we want to give Sales an opportunity of criticising the new silencer under London driving conditions. Naturally, all silencers are a compromise. With the new silencer we can halve the back pressure of the system and at the same time the car is actually freer from exhaust booms than with the old type silencer. It is possible, however that when driven between rows of houses it will be criticised. We should therefore like you to take one of your Trials cars, an old type 25 HP, would be just as satisfactory as a new type from the point of view of judging exhaust noise, and establish the factor for the complete car. If you will let us have a car at Derby we will fit an exhaust system and return it to you. We shall be ready for the car at the beginning of next week 4th July and it will take us about a day to put on the exhaust system. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Fm. | ||
