-2- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}1/AP.7.4.37 The cause of the trouble was a worn jig in the machine which has gradually developed and had not been noticed, there being then no limits or inspection for concentricity as they had in the first place no trouble when the jigs were accurate. This has been corrected. In conclusion, the failure was not due to diaphragm material but to the faulty workmanship by the S.U.Co. in the near side unit, which would escape notice on the test rig and cause local wear on the distance pieces and subsequent fouling. In the off-side unit all the trouble was more consistent with the valve having been wrongly assembled and the contacts disturbed when an attempt was made to locate the failure of the near side unit. If there is definite information that both sides failed before the pump was interfered with then we can only attribute the offside unit's failure to faulty valve assembly by the S.U.Co. though it is extremely improbable that this would escape both our own and their testing. As far as we can ascertain trouble was experienced in Vienna and subsequent complete failure at Stuttgart. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems} | ||
