Copy for E.H.. ORIGINAL. RECEIVED 4 FEB 1918 X.2202 X.3010 R9/W30.1.18. January 30th. 1918. The Controller, Technical Dept. Technical Building, Embankment. W.C.2. For the attention of:- Capt. Briggs. Dear Sir, Mr. Hives tells me that you have a new Zenith carburettor which has given good results on some engines. We should be pleased to have some of these for test, but we feel sure that it is necessary for them to have the features which we have embodied in our R.R.C.H. carburettor viz:- (1). Satisfactory equalising at all openings of the throttle and conditions of working. (2). A satisfactory atomising system of jets. (3). A means of mixture strength control sufficient for the highest altitude to which the plane is intended to rise, but which does not prevent the use of the equalising system when the mixture strength control is not in position and which does not reduce the effective suction on the jets. (4). Carburettor Jets of a pattern and dimensions which will not flood with a very considerable angle of tilt of the engine and aeroplane. | ||
