Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Mr. C.S. Steadman.

We thank you for your letter dated July 1st.

We note with interest your observations on our thermostat, BGA. 3357A - we entirely agree with them.

We are making up two thermostats to BGA. 2073A with 1.3/8" diameter seating, and set to open at 80°C. ± 1°C. We will let you know the temperatures at which these valves are fully open.

The writer mentioned plating of thermostats to you because although he appreciated that you wished, if possible, to use a standard unit costing as little as possible, you would prefer such a unit to have an attractive appearance. Plating is not necessary from the point of view of corrosion, as we have never had a complaint of this nature during the past four years when we have been manufacturing thermostats for use in motor vehicles.

As chromium plating demands considerable hand cleaning, which is detrimental to a bellows assembly, we suggest that the thermostats which we supply to you should be dull nickel plated.

We will despatch the two thermostats now required to-morrow.

We are enclosing our quotation which we hope
