Allow no expense to be put on this engine that is not suitable for the anti-detonating head. It is imperative that we should push forward with the utmost speed the new alum. cyl. block and head of the anti-detonating type. It is understood that this head and cyl. block can be made to suit present crankchamber, but we are anxious to have a new crankchamber made of thinner metal from the drawings E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has already sent you. In this drawing there is considerable metal deleted in one way and another.

The remaining outstanding feature that we have not yet determined is whether we can save on the crankchamber considerable weight and dimensions of 1 1/2" in height by using the original length of con. rod, and we want you to get out the original Phantom engine with its short con. rods and put it in a chassis with the present transmission and damping devices, and find out whether the longer con. rods shew themselves a decided improvement.

There will be some modifications to the flywheel and clutch which we hope will save another 20 to 30 lbs.
