CHASSIS STEERING COLUMN.
RE BLACK FINISH TO QUADRANTS ETC, ON THE TOP OF THE STEERING COLUMN.

I have received two samples of the above from Messrs. Joseph Lucas. The finish is certainly quite good, and appears to me to be quite up to anything we are likely to obtain at the present. There is one point, however, that was not definitely called for, namely, the filling in of the engraving with white lead. Do you know whether Mr Royce wished the engraving to be left black, that is to say, did he raise any objections to the lettering being filled in as per samples?
