Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}7/MH.{M. Huckerby}10.9.38. VANDERVELL MAIN BEARINGS FOR B.III AND WRAITH III. In conjunction with the use of the above which are being tested out on the 15,000 miles test, we would like a layout in which advantage is taken of the thin thrust bearings to increase the length of the crank oil retaining thread. The present arrangement shows the rear crankcase journal web increased in thickness to suit the thin thrust washers .093. The rear bearing has been grooved and drilled as per standard practice on Wraith and should be included on the above. Regarding the B.III LOP which we are going through, the above modification should be included. Attached is Vandervell's drawing L.1076. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H.
