EX 23 and XK 16 have run 10,000 miles in Test of Engine on 22 cwt. Chassis of V.S.F. 32.
Defects already reported and in hands Expl: Dept: for improvement later.
(1) Vacuum pump - excessive oil supply to carb. - drips and generally messes up engine. ?oil consumption rather heavy.
(2) Prop. shaft hitting cross-member.
(3) Tappet noises - period 40 etc. when cold . warming up period
(4) Exhaust noisy - sliding joint gets slack etc. (front of rear silencer.)
(5) Air valve seize (?road grit) - happened on test.
(6) Brakes groan.
