6462. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} RC{R. Childs} BY.2/G.17.9.37. 25/30 and BENTLEY CARS. - RE: DYNAMOS. The Lucas machine we have under test reported on in RC{R. Childs}/CAF.8/WH.7.9.37 appears to have stood up satisfactorily to its test, but seems to be open to criticism in regard to :- (a). Sparking at Commutator under high speed high load, that is, night driving conditions. (b). Noise. It may be advantageous to order another machine, as one machine only may be misleading either way. We should urge forward the RR. dynamo to RR.Sch. 1072, as this represents our latest effort, and should be lighter and cost less to make. On the whole the Lucas effort appears to be a good one, and has justified the experiment, generally speaking. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By | ||
