EH. from Oy. c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X.3095 20.6.17. X.2909 X.3095 - RE CAMSHAFT DRIVE With regard to the bottom nut of the lower housing which was instructed in steel, this has so little to do that I am sure it should be of aluminium or duralumin. I think duralumin w ould be best because it may occasionally get bumped when replacing the camshaft. Would you get it made in aluminium or a light alloy, for experiment.? If we do keep to steel finally, we only need half the number of teeth on the outside, the rest should be cut off for lightness, but with aluminium I think we should do better with the lot, because of the possibility of stubbing them up with the spanner. The present steel nut feels distinctly heavy compared with the rest of the drive. (Sgd) M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Olley. | ||
