Ignition detonation curves under above conditions (c.f. 18 & 19.) SHOP - Remove No.2. head and fit No.1. Instructions may now be issued for modifications to No.2. 22. Check curve on 32 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} choke; small carb; open exh. 23. P.C. 36 m/m choke; small carb.; open exh. 24. P.C. 36 m/m choke; large carb; open exh. 25. Ignition detonation curves on large carb. with 36 m/m choke. SHOP - if ready, the alum. high power head to RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}315 should be fitted, incorporating high lift rocker and 1.750" inlet valve. 26. P.C. with large carb. and 36 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} choke. This should line up with curve 24. Note ignition advance. 27. Ignition - Detonation curves. Increase C.R. until detonation is at level of previous H.P. head in C.I. Detonation level to be judged as nearly as possible by the three ignition -detn. curves. This test will of course take some time. SHOP - No.3. (Alum.) head should now be removed for modifications to inlet valve size. The 1.850" valve being fitted. It is to be replaced by No.2.
