5. B. IV

Before resuming the mileage we have carried out the following work.

1) Cross member behind gear box found loose in frame, tightened up.

2) Exhaust pipe from manifold to near Silencer had dropped; fitted plain stay from gear box cross member to pipe, to hold it up.

3) Fitted up cut-out, after fitting stay, had to strenghten control spring on toggle to prevent rattle.

4) Control rubbers for steadying gear box, not set, set up two complete turns.

5) Clutch pedal set to 5.875 from dash. The pedal rises .750" with maximum torque of engine.

6) Torque reaction damper taken down and made correct, set with a load of 6 lbs.

7) Rear Axle inspection cover found loose; cleaned and tightened up.

8) Propeller Shaft running out of truth at front end; found nut fouling in recess of coupling flange; taken down and cleared away corners of nut; propeller shaft now running true.

9) Swinging arm of Servo no friction load; set to just pull off with front brakes; poundage checked on front brake levers, 12 lbs. N.S. 15 lbs. O.S. OK.

10) Front Axle controls not set correctly, rear ball pad holding against lean of Axle pivots, corrected, lean of axle pivots 2°.

11) Valve timing and ignition checked. Valve timing I.O. 1/4" before mark. I.C. 1/8 before mark. E.O. 1/4 before mark. E.C. 1/8 before mark. Ignition timing correct.

12) Bottom bolt of stay, cantilever pedal mounting found loose. Tightened up.

13) OSR. Damper arm fouled anchor plate of damper on maximum movement. Made to clear.
