X3867 4695 To OY. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LGS.5.26. With reference to your complaint of the Phantom going on firing after switching off, we have come to the conclusion that the reason this engine is worse than the 40/50 HP. Silver Ghost, is because there is less turbulence. The proof that there is less turbulence in the cylinders is that the New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I requires considerably more ignition advance than the old Silver Ghost. Our tests have proved that an engine which goes on firing after being switched off is due to local heating of the charge causing spontaneous ignition. The reason it occurs just as the engine is about to stop is because the turbulence in the cylinders is then very low; Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
