R.R. 950 s (20 T) (S.B. 972.) S/W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RECEIVED JUL 2 1920 Re - RATIOS. I am much interested to receive your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG.30.6.20, and to see how the low and high geared axles work out in speed at 1,000 revs. of the engine per minute with different sized tires. The final sentence of your memo appears to indicate that you are yourself in favor of the lower geared (15 x 52) axle. On the only information that has reached me, i.e., the comparative speed test under various conditions at Brooklands, I have also indicated my preference for the axle of lower gear, especially in view of the fact that so many of our cars are fitted with heavy closed bodies.
