X.4079 - RE GOSHAWK IGNITION COIL.

Referring to the above, and the drawing LeC 1653, when this design was made we understood you were able to make a coil with practically the standard winding, and .1 air space in the standard case. How-ever it is agreed that we should await the results of the tests with coils of larger diameter and greater length which it is anticipated will shortly be known, before proceeding with the coil case of the old diameter to LeC 1653.

We ought to know as soon as possible with regard to this point as I believe some of the production material has been held up in anticipation of the standardisation of the new coil position.

Referring to the material of the case, you are quite correct in your deduction that this was intended to be bakelite.
