To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} X7060 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth.18/KW.6.9.34. Valve Springs for Ph. II. We are about to resume tests on Ph.II with hydraulic tappets and the standard camshaft E.82448. We shall use the head to LeC.3960, but with single valve springs. Will you therefore please design for us two sets of springs, interchangeable with E.85666, and with the following specifications - No. 1 Seat Load 95; rate 150 No. 2 " " 110; " 175 The loading of the tappet spring will also have to be increased in accordance with higher valve spring loading, and we should like a spring giving 30 lbs. on the seat and with a rating of 50 lbs/inch. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.Ll.Smith. We require this extra spring loading because, with the same springs, the initial speed is some 150 r.p.m. lower with the E.82448 camshaft than with the E.80070. | ||
